European Commission Report on the state of negotiations TTIP
In April 27th 2016 The European Commission has published a report showing a detailed breakdown of progress in the ongoing negotiations on a trade agreement between the EU and the US called Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP).
The report said that the negotiators are making good progress in many chapters of TTIP. Other important steps in some areas remain open within the next upcoming rounds of joint negotiations. Negotiators on both sides tend to be the main elements of the agreement finalized this year.
On this occasion, EU Trade Commissioner Cecilia Malmström said: "This report summarizes the discussions conducted by the European Commission as a team in keeping with the political direction of President Juncker involving several colleagues from the European Commission, such as agriculture and the Commissioner for Rural Development Phil Hogan and others. The aim this team has to be wide and uncluttered and concise document that is the result of ongoing negotiations respecting transparent trade negotiations by the EU. During the industrial fair in Hannover Commissioner Cecilia Malmström met with US Trade Representative Michael Froman to assess the progress made so far in the negotiations.
